NEW YORK — The most recent season of Daddyhunt: The Serial took on the issue of PrEP. Now, the cast is back in a series of PSAs to promote HIV and STD prevention in the gay community.
The series is a partnership between Daddyhunt and Building Health Online Communities (BHOC), a public-private partnership between dating sites and apps and HIV and STD prevention organizations.
The first PSA in the series, “The Right Choice,” premiered online at the end of April, STD Awareness Month. It features the cast of Daddyhunt: The Serial (including Jim Newman, BJ Gruber, David M. Farrington & Michael Snipe Jr.) discussing the recent rise in STDs, as well as options for protecting yourself. Over the next month, PSAs will come out addressing condoms, comprehensive STD testing, PrEP, and the importance of HIV-positive individuals taking medications.
“We’ve seen a tremendous online discussion following the release of the latest season,” said Dan Wohlfeiler, Director of BHOC, “and we’re so moved that Daddyhunt and these incredibly talented actors were so eager to take this extra step. They do such a great job at conveying the many choices gay men can make in order to take care of themselves and one another.”
“We strive to make the Daddyhunt app and community a friendly and healthy place for guys to meet,” said Carl Sandler, CEO of Daddyhunt.
“The Right Choice” is live on YouTube and the Daddyhunt Facebook page, where it has already gotten over 125,000 views. A second PSA, featuring BJ Gruber discussing PrEP, is now live.
