First Annual Daddy Days Kicks off Saturday, August 10th
Lions, Tigers and Daddies… oh my! After just visiting P-Town for my first time, I can totally see this new week called “Daddy Days” fitting right in!
Gay social network Daddyhunt.com announced that it will kick off its first annual Provincetown Daddy Days this Saturday, August 10th. The week-long event will be a celebration of gay men of all ages, featuring parties, dinners, performances and tea-dances at locations across Provincetown.
“We wanted to find a way to bring together the strong, smart men who helped build the gay community we know today,” says Javier Cobo, Community Director for Daddyhunt. “We’ve seen historic changes in the past few years politically, and it’s time for us to realize we’re maturing as a community as well. Love and sex aren’t limited by age. With Daddy Days, we’re hoping to bring together not only daddies and daddy hunters, but guys that enjoy a broader definition of community.”
Provincetown Daddy Days kicks into high gear on Sunday with a welcome party at the historic Gifford House. Events continue throughout the week, including tea dances, dinners, and mixers. Many of Provincetown’s most popular venues are taking part in the festivities, but the center of the action will be Crew’s Quarters on Commercial Street.
“We’re really proud to be the host hotel for Daddy Days,” says Crew’s Quarters’ Eric Hoop. “We’ve got an incredible week planned, and we’re really excited to see all the guests arriving in Provincetown.”
Daddyhunt will be giving two free Crew’s Quarters rooms away to Daddyhunt members in the Northeast.
“This is a place with a lot of history for gay men, at a time when we’re losing more and more of our gay spaces,” says Cobo. “Daddy Days is a way for us to reconnect with our own Gay Founding Fathers, and help preserve and celebrate that history.”
Daddyhunt was founded in 2005 as a site for gay men over 40 who often felt excluded from more mainstream online dating sites. From its start, Daddyhunt stressed an attitude-free environment, and encouraged its members to value not only sex appeal, but also integrity, confidence, safety and respect. By working with Provincetown businesses to launch Daddy Days, Daddyhunt hopes to start an annual tradition that appeals to real men of all ages — whether they be Silver Daddies, Leather Daddies, Daddies in Training, or the men who love them.
“These may be the first Daddy Days,” says Daddyhunt’s Cobo, “But we’re looking forward to many more years ahead.”
