I have had my eyes on Hand Job Academy for wile now. Now Uncle Meg comes out solo for this fun new project. I’m pretty sure that feeling in my gut is a big crush on Uncle Meg!
“Uncle Meg is a West Virginian born, Brooklyn-based rapper best known for her videos and lyrics in the all female Hip-Hop trio- Hand Job Academy. Uncle Meg’s visual & lyrical talent have been featured on New York Magazine, LA Weekly, Instagrammed by Taylor Swift, Good Morning America, & many more. You can watch all of Uncle Meg’s music videos on YouTube & listen to all her music on Soundcloud. OR you can catch Uncle Meg and her crew on their web series Do What You Want Always.“
Genderqueer rapper Uncle Meg ends the summer of 2015 with a big release.
UNCLE FREESTYLE, Uncle Meg’s first single from their new EP to be released in September 2015, is available for free download on Uncle Meg’s soundcloud. The track for Uncle Freestyle is a wacky house track full of catchy rhymes produced by P. Kilmure.
Along with the new single available for free download, Uncle Meg has released a new music video for Uncle Freestyle on YouTube. The video is an artistic collaboration between Uncle Meg & local Brooklyn artist, Vicky Healy, aka @MeltyCats. MeltyCats’ unconventional art is featured all over the video matching perfectly with Uncle Meg’s style as Uncle Meg and her Pink Cat Head Mascot run around the neighborhood doing whatever they want and not apologizing for it.
The video was directed & edited by Uncle Meg herself and was shot by April Maxey, Uncle’s long time business partner.
If you’re feeling the track and video, stay tuned in September 2015 for the release of Uncle Meg’s first solo EP, to be released for free on iTunes, Spotify, & Soundcloud. The 5 song EP consists of upbeat tracks with wacky rhymes as well as some more emotional Drake-esque tracks with descriptive and heartfelt lyrics.
