  Join the Bay-Area artists featured in the recently launched art book, Queer Threads: Crafting Identity and Community (co–edited and designed by Todd Oldham with independent curator John Chaich and published by AMMO Books) for a talk, book-signing, and hands-on crochet jam as part of the 2nd annual San Francisco Art Book Fair. The first–ever of its kind, the 192-page coffee table book spotlights an international, intergenerational, intersectional mix of 30 artists who are expanding the binaries of art, craft, and gender by remixing fiber craft traditions such as crochet, embroidery, knitting, macramé, quilting, and sewing. The hard cover, 8×10 volume features full–color spreads of each artist’s work paired with interviews led by makers and thinkers from the worlds of dance, design, fashion, media, music, museums, scholarship, including: Jonathan Adler, Justin Vivian Bond, Costello Tagliapietra, Michael Cunningham, Tim Gunn, Kathleen Hanna, Bill T. Jones, Glenn Ligon, JD Samson, and Mickalene Thomas.   The book expands on exhibition of the same name, which was dubbed “Judiciously racy” by The New York Times and “Cozy, erotic, thoughtful, and keenly engaged with contemporary art’s shifting paradigms” by The Boston Globe, as it traveled from the Leslie–Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in Manhattan to the Maryland Institute College of Art and Boston Center for the Arts from 2014-16.
