Bring Your Own Queer (BYOQ) 2012: Free Gaytime Music, Art & Performance Festival: KICKSTARTER

KICKSTARTER

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Bring Your Own Queer (BYOQ) is a free gaytime music, art & performance festival held in Golden Gate Park (between the DeYoung and the Academy of Sciences) showcasing local queer artists.Volunqueer your tax-deductible donations now and dance in the sun come September. It can’t happen without your support!

The impact BYOQ has on the community has been phenomenal – since 2009 we have consistently aimed to foster a network of engaged, connected, queer communities. By featuring local queer musicians, DJs, performers and artists at the historic Bandshell at Golden Gate Park we are creating diverse queer public space as well as being social activists by bringing our festival to a place where queers don’t normally congregate.

In the past, the BYOQ festival in Golden Gate Park has been the labor of love organized by a single person. With the help and support of amazing sponsors and participants–from Honey Soundsystem to Juanita More!– the festival has continued to get bigger and queerer.

This year it’s our goal to expand the physical and cultural footprint of the festival even further by tapping into the talent and resources of our amazing community. That’s where you come in!

KICKSTARTER

Why We Need Your Support:

If we reach our goal of $4000—and ideally surpass it–by June 18th, we will be able to cover the cost of the city permits, the insurance. If we surpass our goal all this money will go toward the artist fees for more than 50 collaborators who will be electrifying this day with queer performance!

To recap your donations are needed for:
– City permits, & insurance for use of the Golden Gate Park Bandshell and music concourse. This is our city, let’s dance about it.
– Support for the artists that create beautiful ways to explore and make SF a worldwide destination.

YES, your donations are tax deductible:
– BYOQ is a fiscally sponsored project of Intersection for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.

Check with your employers to see if they match your donations:
– Many organizations will match your donation dollar for dollar all you need to do is ask.
