Absolutely Not have been active in their native Chicago for over a decade, and Errors is their fifth studio album. The album covers dark political/social themes, but always with a comic twist and pop sensibility to keep the vibe more playful and bratty. Errors is a collection of songs about people either mislabeled as Errors by the general public because they’re misunderstood and different, or people that have horrible motivations or perceptions.
For example, the lead single “Strictly Top” is glam-rock style song with a humorous view on Donnie’s sexuality, but it also doubles as a message for people to be more open-minded and accepting. Donnie and his sister Madison (who plays keys and sings backing vocals in the band) also run the beloved, long-running monthly LGBTQ rock event Glitter Creeps at The Empty Bottle. Shredding ignorance, promoting acceptance and igniting change is the driving force for both Absolutely Not and Glitter Creeps… the band and event are here to make a difference, and celebrate difference.
“Blood Money” is a musical ode to frontman Donnie Moore’s penchant for 70’s and 80’s sci-fi horror cinema, and the album will be coming out on July 28th through Chicago’s No Trend Records (Bandcamp pre-order). Release date:27 July 2017
